Someone left the cake out in the rain

I wish the rest of last week was as eventful as our trip into NYC for the show. Alas there wasn’t much excitement until New Year’s Eve.

The hubby went back to work for 2 days Wednesday and Thursday, I spent the 2 days getting a head start on the cleaning since we were having close to 30 people over for our annual New Year’s party.Thursday we met some friends for lunch at the new Brio Tuscan Grille that opened at the Mall right next door to The Cheesecake Factory. Everyone said their meal was really good. I had the Lasagna Bolognese with a Caesar salad and will agree it was delicious. We will have to go back and try the place for dinner.

Friday was our day of errands and a pre-anniversary date lunch. The hubby and I drove up north from us to this fabulous Pub called The White Horse Country Pub, this marks our 3rd time there, the first for lunch. I had the French Onion Soup which is a favorite of mine, and the Cheddar Crunch burger.The hubby ordered the Calamari, a favorite of his, and the Drunken Croque Monsieur. Just as with the previous times for dinner, we were not disappointed in our selections. After lunch it was on to Costco and Shoprite to get the final items we needed for the party Saturday.

Saturday was a busy busy day, more cleaning in the morning, a few more final errands and then the best part, a quick nap before the party prep commenced. It was finally party time! We actually ended up having at last count 27 people, I think a record since our weddings. As busy as I seem to be with all the guests arriving and the food needing tending, it took me a bit before I got my first drink. But man that first sip of wine really helped me to get into party mode and then they just kept coming. I believe we counted close to 9 bottles of wine were emptied, 2 were half empty and 3 bottles of champagne.

I had the best time, and was sad to see it all come to an end but man was I tired and ready for bed once 2am hit. We had 3 friends end up staying over but they pretty much left once we got coffee in them between 9 and 11am. New Years day we spent doing absolutely nothing. A little more clean up and some Ab Fab reruns on BBC America.

We were both pretty glad to have Monday off to recuperate as well so it was another day of nothing. We did manage to run out to the mall, christmas tree shops, and Lowes (3 times for the hubby) for some clothes, and a new bathroom faucet. Tuesday it was back to work, there wasn’t much in my inbox to sort through which was good, but it’s been a quiet week, which makes the short week seem so long.

This coming Sunday we start back up with our Bowling league so expect to see my bowling updates return on a weekly basis. I am super excited I love bowling, and I love the league, and I can’t wait to see the great friends we made there.

My True-Love Hath My Heart

My true-love hath my heart, and I have his,
By just exchange one for the other given:
I hold his dear, and mine he cannot miss;
There never was a bargain better driven.
His heart in me keeps me and him in one,
My heart in him his thoughts and senses guides;
He loves my heart for once it was his own;
I cherish his because in me it bides.
His heart his wound receivèd from my sight;
My heart was wounded with his wounded heart;
For as from me on him his hurt did light,
So still methought in me his hurt did smart:
Both equal hurt, in this change sought our bliss,
My true love hath my heart and I have his.

With New Years Eve upon us, It is time to look back and reflect on the year past, and the year to come.

New Years Eve also happens to be Our Anniversary.

As my husband and I set forth on year 15 together I thought it appropriate to take a look back at the years gone by. Let’s break it down by the numbers.

1998 – The year we met.

2003 – Our First Commitment Ceremony

2005 – Our Civil Union

2008 – Our Wedding

So that’s 14 years complete, 8 years committed, 6 years Civilly Unioned, and 3 Years Married.

My True Love truely hath my Heart.

Our Commitment Ceremony 2004

Our Cake that our Good Friend Corey Made.

To the left of the cake you can see the Champagne Glasses that we made to give to all of the guests.

2005 Our Civil Union

As part of the Civil Union we had a Candle Lighting. Each guest lit a small candle while the Hubby and I lit the big Silver candle in the middle.

Our Wedding in 2008.

We figured since we had subjected all of our friends to 2 previous ones, we would forgo the big wedding and invite a small group as witness.

Mid Week Entertainment

Well Christmas has come and gone and it’s the downward spiral to New Year’s.

As part of the Hubby’s Christmas Bounty, I got us tickets to go see Priscilla Queen of the Desert on Broadway. Let me just say the show was FABULOUS! RUN don’t walk to this show if you get the chance. Now I will admit they took some liberties with adapting the Broadway show from the movie.

The costumes were spectacular, the actors wonderul, and most of them damn sexy, the music was amazing.

We made a day of it and went in early, grabbed lunch at Roxy’s Delicatessen, then we wandered up to Rockefeller center and saw the Tree and the Skating rink. We popped into the Lego store, then a chocolate shop, and then took in the Holiday Windows at Saks. After the show we grabbed  bite to eat, after walking 12 blocks in the rain, and headed home.

These are just a few of the pictures from the day, unfortunately we weren’t able to get any of the show.

Twas the Night after Christmas

And all through the house, all the doggies are stirring, and I’m on the couch.

Another Christmas has come to an end. What a busy busy week we have had. I was off from work on Monday for an appointment, which made the rest of the work week drag on and on. Thankfully Thursday afternoon we got the email saying the office was closing at 2pm on Friday, which meant my mini vacation started that much earlier. I am off from work now until January 3rd, which also happens to be my 6yr Anniversary at work.

I came home Friday and had to get some of the Desserts for Christmas Eve at my uncles house baked. I made Cookies and Cream Cheesecakes and Maple Cupcakes with Maple Buttercream Frosting.

This was one of the best Christmas Eve’s in long time. The tradition is that we go to my Father’s families house, usually one of his brothers hosts the evening. It was this particular uncle’s first time hosting. Thankfully none of the cranky out of town brothers or sisters showed up.

Christmas morning the hubby and I got up to finish the prep of the food items we were bringing to my parents house for Christmas Dinner. We were in charge of the Bread, Sausage Dressing, Turkey for deep frying, and the 30 day dry aged Prime Rib. The other item I supply for Christmas dinner is the Centerpiece for the dining room table. I am always thoroughly happy with the flowers that get delivered, and I always order from 1800flowers.com.

20111226-183510.jpgThis was the funnest gift I got from the Hubby for Christmas.

Actually one of the best gifts the Hubby and I got was that the Foster Pup Nacho is going to his forever home on Tuesday. This also happens to coincide with a trip into NYC which is the Hubby’s present. I got us tickets to see Priscilla Queen of the Desert on Broadway, so we are going to make a day of it with lunch the show and dinner, maybe even a drink or 2 with a friend if we can make our schedules work out.

So now I will enjoy my week off, our trip into NYC and our Annual New Year’s party. The next week will be just as busy as the days leading up to Christmas. Hope you all had a Joyous Christmas, and a Happy Boxing Day!

Merry Christmas

Cookie Mania

So I spent Sunday Baking cookies. I counted and I was 1 cookie short of having baked 21 dozen.

Hark, the Harold Angels Sing

Wow, have I been way behind on things around here. I have no one to blame but myself.

I can’t say it has been a very eventful 2 weeks, but there was a bit of business all around. Work has been picking up into high gear with month end madness. I am off on Monday and then off the last week of the year. I am so looking forward to it.

Last Friday was my companies Holiday Luncheon. We worked until 11:30am, then they had set up 4 conference rooms, 2 each for BIngo and Left Center Right. I chose to play Left Center Right as I had never played that before. I didn’t win but it was a fun game none the less. After Games we had lunch which was catered by a local place, then Raffle prizes which I didn’t win. We then got to go home as the office closed early at 1:30.

Saturday was our usual day of errands, with an added stop for a couple hours doing a doggie Meet & Greet to help find Nacho a forever home. Saturday night was our friends Monthly Game Night, which was a blast as always. Some new faces, and a lot of the regulars.

Sunday we headed on out to IKEA to pick up some wine shelving for the basement among a few other things, then spent some much needed time with one of our Bowling Wives and her new neighbors, who also happen to be good friends of ours from the  bowling league as well. We had a great lunch then just hung around the house catching up and gabbing.

Another week snuck up on us and in a whirlwind it was over. I worked from home on Tuesday as I had an appointment in the afternoon and it was just easier to work remotely. Tuesday night we finally dragged out all of the Christmas Stuff and Decked the Halls here at the house. I’ll post some of those pics later this week. Thursday I had a night out to attend the Initiation of my Sister into the local Elks Lodge. My Father, myself and now my sister are all members. Friday night we babysat for our 1 1/2 yo niece. She is such a cutie pie, dancing and singing and just being a big old ham while we were out to dinner.

I’m sitting on the couch recovering from our crazy day of haircuts and errands. We hit all of our usual stops, Costco, Shoprite, Stew Leonards. We had a very long list of things we needed for Christmas and for Cookie Baking which I will be doing on Sunday. It’s hard to believe that Christmas is only a week away…..

Five on the Fifth
